International Advisory Board
![]() | ![]() |
The International Advisory Board (IAB) is a uniquely influential group of global business and policy leaders who provide perspectives to the Atlantic Council’s president and board. A further goal from its first annual meeting in 2007 has been to bring the group’s wisdom to Washington and to provide its members with access to leading U.S. thinkers and policy makers.
The IAB is composed entirely of chairmen and chief executives of significant global companies and accomplished former policy makers of cabinet rank or above. Members serve three-year renewable terms. The group meets annually, usually in conjunction with the Atlantic Council’s Annual Awards Dinner in Washington, D.C.
Members have a demonstrated track record of support for the Euro-Atlantic relationship. Its makeup also reflects the rapidly changing nature of the transatlantic agenda as captured in the Council’s mission statement: “Renewing the Atlantic Community for 21st Century global challenges.”
The group or individual members may suggest specific directions or programs that serve that mission. The Atlantic Council also serves as a home for IAB members who wish to organize meetings in D.C., New York or elsewhere -- or turn to its staff or network for insights.
