Medvedev Hopes for Constructive Dialogue with Obama

Neil Richard Leslie | November 06, 2008

Russian President Dmitri Medvedev has congratulated Barack Obama on his victory in the U.S. presidential election in a statement released by the Kremlin, according to ITAR-TASS. "Russian-US relations are historically an important factor of stability in the world. They are of great and sometimes of key importance for resolving many pressing international and regional problems [...] We are confident that it is necessary to step-by-step enhance cooperation between our countries on a wide range of issues on the world agenda, but also to really promote bilateral interaction in all areas,” Medvedev said.
