Russia Accuses West of Provocation

James Joyner | September 06, 2008

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has accused the West, particularly the United States, of provocation for sending in warships to deliver humanitarian aid to Georgia, Reuters reports.  "I wonder how they would feel if we now dispatched humanitarian assistance to the Caribbean, suffering from a hurricane, using our navy." Moscow charges that these ships are rearming Georgia's army, a charge Washington terms "ridiculous."
