EU Parliament: No Gender Stereotypes in Advertising

The EU Parliament on Wednesday called on "EU institutions and member states to develop awareness actions against sexist insults or degrading images of women and men in advertising and marketing," Der Spiegel reports.  MEPs overwhelmingly endorsed a report, written by Sweden's Eva-Britt Svensson, which also encourages monitoring of existing European sex discrimination laws and calls on the media to set a good example.   The measure is not legally binding.
